The 07 was beloved by all, many of whom thought it to be the best MSB under a tenner. The 08 was fuller in body with less fruit and a step down. The 09 didn't even appear but the 10 is here and it's back to how I remember it in 07. Ninety per cent blackcurrant and ten per cent lemon grass which stops me from absolutely loving it, but most of you will rate it highly.

On offer for £6.49

Goose......I put this back down last night, and left our nearest Panthéon catch all store after checking stock and fine wine leftovers, that may come up for clearance, cos they're dusty.
The '08 did not get my approval either - nothing to do with body though, which as you know, I like some legs to my MSB. I thought the flavour was too simple, and such a huge contrast from before..... so I couldn't be bothered with it.

Now 12 hours later:

You hadn't said anything about the Reach '10 - and Now I have to drive back there again. Such is my acquisition luck this month

Goose, Hey the '07 was better than that - how's that fuzzy memory of yours ?. Black current leaf pungency was the 1st hit, then lychee and trop stone fruits, mango stone centre with a subtle lightness of flavour, decent length when cool as well. Lovely stuff, lovely apperatif. I don't want 'em too stong in the middle, then falling off to pith at the finish - too new world like pour moi.

Dunc, this doesn't compare to any of your favourite MSB's it's just a big step up on the commercial dross.

And as many drink commercial dross then this, as it's far better, will be very popular.

The touch of lemon grass kills it for me. But then i'm fussy I want capsicum on the end of my little purple fruits and I pay a lot for such class as do all lovers of proper MSB.

I would have adored this ten years ago but i've been spoiled as have you.

I was really just posting for the benefit of Oyster Bay and Wairau Coce lovers as in...if you must buy cheap MSB then buy this.

Let it pass

You rated the 07 higher than I did although some bottles had no lemon grass and were worth a star at the price.

Reminded me of another Vavasour wine Dashwood....which is all lemon grass now.

I saw the '10 Reach

Thought I'd wait for someone else to try it first

I liked the 07 and 08. Will give this a go soon too.

was reading a vintage report for 2010 by Brent Maris the other day that said 2010 is meant to be a great vintage for Marlborough and most of NZ

We'll hopefully see a few gems over the next months
