The colour is deep purple, almost black.

A powerful aroma of blackcurrant with a little parma violet followed by a hint of white pepper. A fantastic nose, really fruity. In the foreground there is a burnt rubber note but it is so subtle and short it merely adds interest. Ripe sweet shiraz fruit follows but it feels more balanced than the WR Maipo Cab tasted at the weekend. It has a richness that lingers on the finish with decent length.

Definitely deserves its Decanter Gold medal and a :qofgoodvalue:

Sounds marvelously juicy for £4.86. So that was £6.49 at full whack, still good then ?

Being a Cote Rotie recipe, I wonder what may happen if you kept one for a long time. You never know  Any tannic structure behind that fruit ? It has got all the ingredients, perhaps the mouvedre is a little surplus to requirements. Do some Roties have Mouve' in the mix ? Anyone

Enjoy now - a cheap experiment though.

Yeah, good for £6.49, but this is appears to be a regular for waitrose offers.

Past TNs on this wine suggest it might have been a stroke of luck on this vintage. Having said that last years Pinotage was good too.

Regarding ageing potential, I'm not sure. There is some structure so it is possible. I have 3 left but will probably pick up more when next on offer. Although that is probably pointless. I'm so busy trying new wines I rarely have time to go back to ones I've stocked up on
