Double discounted from £13.50 and my first of this ilk for many a year. Was hoping for magical but first tastes were somewhere between not nice and uugggh. However, it has developed with increasing temperature into an acceptable offering. Creamy, bit medicinal, not at all as planned. One glass is enough-will re-visit tomorrow.

I didn't mean this wine. This is one of those utter dross wines from famous regions bought for a song and sold for silly money.

It's about as bad as a Sancerre gets.

I meant the 09....hang on i'll get a link

Hi Goose,

Mr Bacchus is a bright lad, but he does occasionally miss, when it comes to vintages and producers. Come on Ba  Wise-up

To get what we really want at the price - both of these have to work in tandem, and have to be exactly right.
As for the others, under £9.99 or so, like de Ligny Chablis, it may be sheer fluke that the producer has made something quite special for the price. De Ligny tho, is not holding - very narrow window.

We try some of them which may have a chance based on the above criteria - sometimes we are very lucky :)

Goose, is that Sancerre still available in stores near you?

It's not on the website anymore and I've not seen it any of the stores near me.

Thought that at £6½ I couldn't go wrong. Don't think my lot had Gooses one either. Will keep an eye out and await offers.

The La Porte Sancerre is available at my local. The 08 is still nice. A little golden in colour, rich and flinty whilst the screwcaped 09 still has the lovely elderflower finish of a young Sancerre.

Why does the elder turn to flint.......

If this wine has limited availability then Sainsbury might be about to drop it.

Sorry you got a duff one Ba

Take it back, Bacc
