France it is.
I too opened one last night. I agree with everything you say. Farmyard has been lost to time. Much more typical than Chapoutier's hints to the NW.
Changes quite a bit in the glass. Stood up quite well with food. Can't help but feel a little disappointed though. Good at the offer price but the full price provides a little bit more expectation and it has * not quite delivered for me.
Yep - * exactly Tribs, not delivered. Stood up to food, oh good, I could place with a salad lunch, and serve cooler than normal
Changes quite a bit in the glass Yep, it expires ! doesn't it - but the syrah flavour is good when straight out of the blocks, even though it has no legs.
There will be bottle variance from Mel's tasting all that time ago, the blending tanks for this wine will vary - that's understood.
My bottle code on the back label is:
L9322F 02
For this batch - no star for a tenner.
For a fiver, still a bargain because the flavour is nice. Dont know how it hides 14% alc, feels like 13 which is very pleasant. I'd give it a
£ good if the body was there to fill out in the mouth.
I'm happy enough
Sir, Enjoy your discoveries in France - you may stumble across some *real gems.
edited - Sorry about that Tribs Google tanslate gave me a bum steer, and I didn't check.
