Info

Bland, a touch acidic, hollow fruit with the faintest hint of oak. Very disapointed, expected much more for my £10.

It just goes to prove....

GK - In the blurb, they say:

The idea behind DRINK ME is the creation of a pleasant, easy drinking red wine.

Is this not a fatal flaw for experienced wine lovers ? A red wine must show its mettle to excite us.

Too Easy ! too dull, to boring, too much bl**dy formula !

After all these years - I'd rather explore a more difficult wine. But that is me.

Nonsense.

If you took that approach to wine there'd be no point in drinking Pinot or Gamay, young Crianza's etc...

If 'metal' means 14.5% alc and over extraction, you can keep it. I don’t mind a challenge, so long as there's a reward in it for me.

I want well-made, characterful wines with a respectful nod to their varietal and region. This is the very least I expect when I spend £10+ on a wine, anything less shows poor craftsmanship (and a merchant who should know better).

Easy drinking? Goes without saying, since when should drinking wine be difficult?

Nonsense - Sorry GK, careless spelling error - s'be Mettle.

Nevertheless, I hold by my original statement, that I will generally prefer a wine with a more difficult personality to explore, to one that is too simplistic, perhaps descibed as "Easy" by the marketing professionals.

The meaning of words, and how we use them in short sentences is rather tricky.

Easy to my mind, implies a flavour and style that is unlikely to offend the majority. Conversely, and in this context, it may be true that the same style is unlikely to excite and promote a higher than normal level of interest.

Hope that explains my bald statement a lot better.

Sorry about your ten quid.
