Mmm, this is delicious. Maybe just because of the mood I'm in. Sometimes you are so receptive to the smell of wine. It's not a pure, Marlborough type smell. It's pretty ripe and tropical, but with some green as well.
later
A friend just popped in and I offered her a glass. Not a wine friend, but she sniffed and said "Wow, what a wonderful smell!", so not just me.
Coming back to it, when warmed up a bit, there is a slightly sweaty smell that you can sometimes get with Chilean Sauv (this is from Elqui Valley).
It's searingly acidic and fresh. Really green and vibrant. The gooseberry taste lasts and lasts. An excellent wine. I'm not going to give it a star because of the slight sweat on the nose after it's been in the glass a while, but overall a good buy and definitely worth getting when on offer.
