Halkidiki, Greece

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the 30ha Tsantali estate in Halkidiki and other local growers. The organically tended vines from Bordeaux clones are planted on the valley floor and on gentle slopes, with a Mediteranean climate cooled by maritime breezes. Grapes were harvested with a yield of 40 - 60hl/ha and fermented at 28 - 32°C, with an extended maceration post ferment and full malolactic. Matured in 300l French oak barrels for 10 - 12 months. Alc 13.5%. Available from Waitrose Wine Direct and 234 branches.

Definitely a kick of cabernet on the nose. Very inviting. Nice taste. Actually, very different from anything Greek I’ve tried before. Light, refereshing and elegantly cabernet. Worth trying. Long flavour. Fair price.
