ROSE

Jacob’s Creek Cool Harvest Shiraz Rosé 2011 £8.99
100% Shiraz selected from premium cool-climate sites, picked at lower baumé. Grapes are harvested in the cool of the night and then delivered immediately to the winery to be destemmed and gently crushed, minimising skin contact. The free run juice is then cool-fermented with specially selected yeast strains. The wine is filtered using SMP/PVPP fining agents.
Residual sugar: 12g/l. Winemaker: Rebekah Richardson.
New, available now, 536 stores, screw cap 11.0%

Very little aroma. Fruity and a bit bitter.

Sainsbury’s Grenache Rosé, Côteaux de l’Ardeche NV £4.49
100% Grenache grapes grown on a combination of limestone and sandstone terraces. Following a very strict parcel selection in the vineyards the grapes are harvested at dawn. After a short skin maceration, the grapes are very gently pressed prior to fermentation taking place at a controlled 12-14°C using selected yeasts. Residual sugar: 8g/l. Winemaker: Luc Talleron.
New vintage, available end May, 372 stores, exclusive, synthetic cork 13.5%

Almost no aroma. Bitter and not that great.  Needs food.
