100% Pinot Noir from Recas in the Banat Region of Romania.
100% estate-grown grapes from the Dealul Uberland vineyard planted on a limestone bedrock, with iron-oxide rich loams. Vines are tended sustainably with minimal use of spray chemicals and grass between rows. 75% of the grapes were hand-picked with the remainder machine-harvested. 25% of the grapes were transferred directly into 1,000kg bins without being destemmed, then sealed and put through a carbonic maceration fermentation for 10 days. Remaining 75% was destemmed, lightly crushed and then macerated and fermented normally at 25°C in stainless steel automated fermenters. Both wines were then separately pressed, and the non-carbonic wine was lightly oaked for 6 months with French oak staves. Winemakers Hartley Smithers & Nora Iriate. Alc 13.0%. Young and fruity nose. Sweet, simple and fruity.  Not for Burgundy fans.
