Oudinot Brut NV £23
Winery: Champagne Oudinot
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
Region: Champagne
Viticulture/Vinification: A blend of Chardonnay grapes, vinified in stainless steel with 100%
malolactic fermentation. Aged on lees for minimum 24 months. Base: 2008 Disgorgement Date: Nov 2011 Dosage: 8.4 g/l

Lovely chardonnay nose. Grippy, intense, bone, bond dry.  Bordering on the austere.
12.0% vol.

Champagne Desroches NV £25
Marks & Spencer
Winemaker and winery: Jean Pierre Vincent, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte
Grape varieties: 45% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier
Region: Champagne
Viticulture/Vinification: 50% of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation before being bottled, it then spends 2 years on its lees before disgorgement.
Base: 2008 Disgorgement Date: Nov 2011 Dosage: 8.4 g/l

Richer, biscuit aroma than the Oudinot. Full-flavoured, bright tart and long.

Region: Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims
Viticulture/Vinification: Grapes are carefully selected from only classified Premier Cru and Grand Cru Villages. First fermentation in thermostatically-controlled stainless steel vats. This wine is matured in cellars for 2 years on the lees.
Base: 2007 Disgorgement Date: Aug 2011 Dosage: 10g/l
Availability: 138 stores
Sweet smell of a bakery. Full, biscuit flavour.  Long and dry.
12.5% vol.

Oudinot Vintage Champagne 2005 £28

Winemaker and winery: Olivier Vigneron, Champagne Oudinot
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
Region: Champagne
Viticulture/Vinification: Grapes are harvested mainly from the best crus of the Côte des Blancs, whole bunch picking by hand. Cool fermentation between 16 and 18˚C in small stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. There is very light filtration and the wine is matured in bottle for at least 3 years before release.
Base: 2005 Disgorgement Date: Nov 2011 Dosage: 7.3g/l
Availability: 451 stores
Lovely aroma. Sweet patisserie. Quite a savoury taste.  Almost as if it’s seen some oak, although apparently not.
12.0% vol.

Marcel Wanders Oudinot Vintage Tin 2004 £39

Crazy presentation tin. Light, slightly floral, nose. Full-flavoured, savoury, dry and long.
12.0% vol.
