78% Shiraz, 15% Merlot, 5% Petite Sirah with 2% other varieties. 92% of the grapes hail from the Lodi appellation. This wine was produced
by Bear Creek Winery in Lodi, owned and operated by the local Kautz family, who also own and manage 2,500 hectares of vineyards in
the Lodi and Sierra Foothills American Viticultural Areas. The grapes used in this wine came primarily from family-owned vineyards. They
were machine-harvested with a lower than usual yield. The fruit was gently pressed in a membrane press and fermented in rotary
fermenters that allow for increased maceration and good extraction. Inoculated malo in tank then matured in stainless steel on
American oak. Suitable for vegetarians. Alc 13.50%, TA 5.6g/l, pH 3.67, RS 3.4g/l. Special Offer: Save 1/3, £8.99 - £5.99 from 09/11/11
to 06/12/11. Waitrose Wine Direct and 225 branches.

Very dark and moody nose. Sweet palate with a lot of ripe fruit and vanilla.

Tasted at WR 06/10/11
