This wine is great now. Exceptionally good CdR on the '07 vintage. tribs you were spot on when you said this was a step-up from the other '07 CdR's we had enjoyed 6 months ago. It's a big step now.
Bought from Majestic on a multi buy for £6.49 for a week, then £6.99 then finally £7.99 I believe.
Best southern Rhone wine below £10 for a very long time.
Superlatives at all angles for Rhone lovers at this price point. Firm but fine grained tanins, deep colour, deep syrah flavour, mouth filling middle palate, not too savoury or drying out, balanced acidity (never soft nor hollow) with an explosive hot stones peppery finish.
Much better than Oz clones for the dosh.
Well......
I'm biased for a super and very ripe rhone rouge -
and this is it.
If there is any left at Majestic, pick up, superior in every department to the 2008 currently on the shelves.
We had this full and flavoursome wine outside last night with a cold roast chicken and various salads.
My dear misses had made her own marinade for the pre-roast bird.
1 teaspoon full of very soft dark brown sugar
1 large tablespoon of runny honey
1 table spoon of delicate white wine vinegar
some Lea & Perrins Worcester sauce and drops of tobasco sauce to suit your taste.
The wine with the cold marrinade chicken and roasted aubergine & home grown courgettes and couscous was fab.
Finished the meal with home grown raspberries and waitrose luxury custard - The raspberries were small and concentrated due to the extensive hot sun and very dry conditions here in Berkshire.
We could have been in the Vendee last night
Warm evening here.
