Dad brought this with him. I'd seen the label and so we only needed to guess the vintage. Mum guessed 1990, and he said it was older than that, so my only options were 89 and 82, because it was beautiful.

Fabulous smell. Gentle, warm, softly composty. Just exactly what you want claret to smell like. Gentle tannins, savoury, almost like curry, but still with fresh acidity and baked fruit. Not baked like Shiraz, but slow baked plum crumble. A very, very lovely wine.

Your Dad is a very generous and clearly a *charming guy, with excellent taste. * A completely biased opinion based on his choice

Spoilt you rotten.

I know where this wine site and MW business comes from now

I did have at least 2 of these 82's and my greedy friends destroyed one of them at my fortieth, the other at a new year's do in the 90's. I have in the past made dire and idiotic mistakes, by opening goodies when I'm already past it on the night.

One learns - eventually

Should I have bought the lesser Marbuzet 05 when TL were doing the ring around BE clear out. I rather think my taste buds would be half dead if I waited just 2 decades before treating my kids.
