This Cote d'Or rouge is the wrong side of the D road in Auxey Duresses, and therefore is only entitled to Ordinaire. However the wine is infinitely superior to most of uk supermarket Cotes de what'sits bulk offerings.

It is an odd system this Ordinaire designation in Cote d'Or, anyway I hear that the owners aren't that bothered anyway, as there are tiny quantities - about 100 cases, and no pictures on the web.

Very nice Pinot. On the '03 a bit new world due to excessive ripeness, yet the wine comes in at 12% Vol which means it has a sweetish intro and exit. Lovely fullness of fruit, and equally at home when at cellar temperature. Good and coating mouth feel, and just enough acidity on the '03.

Nice wine and correct Pinot wine, which is made for the owners by a local Auxey man.

You can get this wine from Fingal Rock delivery is free when buying a case of 12.

If considering a purchase I would take the 2005 vintage which has many years ahead for complexity and lasting structure. Lovely bright colour in the glass, ruby gemstone clear as it should be. Longish quality cork and trad lead foil.

It must be a sign of a decent producer, a simple '03 Pinot from a difficult vintage and still drinking well. They even managed to sqeeze in some acidity too. I'd like to try that.

Keeping the Alc at only 12% was a deft touch.

Tom Innes keeps the wine cool at his place in Monnow Street. The wine was 'a point when it made it into my 2009 gallery for a shave under a tenner. I would have to move you on to the 05 now....unless you buy the '03 and making sure that Tom has kept the remainders very very well.

Tom is right when he said the wine is evolving more true to type, than from his website comment. However if I were to take a bit more again, I'd want Tribs's cooler here  - which would be perfect for keeping this wine now.

Per Tom, the Toulmins' also have access to cellars in Auxey. I believe he had the lasty of the '03 in February, shortly before I took some '05 Les Mitans (subsumed L'Ormeau parcel) 1er, for my '05 C. d'Or collection

Whenever I write a post - everyone runs off for the rest of the day - TMI ?
