A traditional blend of Douro grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Vinification took place at Quinta da Eira Velha in granite lagares where the grapes were foot trodden. Fermented with natural yeast at between 24-30ºC. Once the must had fermented to the desired degree of sweetness (usually within 48 hours), fortification took place with grape brandy at 77% v/v (generally 80% must / 20% brandy). Aged for two years in seasoned oak and then bottled without any fining or filtration. Quinta da Eira Velha is situated on a hill just above the town of Pinhão. The documented history of the property goes back to the 16th Century, making it one of the oldest established Quintas.
