100% Barbera. Produced in the Monferrato Hills in the south of the province of Asti, Piemonte. South west aspects at altitudes between 250 and 400m with limestone-clay soil. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at 25-30°C. Pressed when dry and racked to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. Separate parcels are aged in a combination of French oak barrels and large traditional oak vats for 12 months and are then blended and bottled. Winemaker ~ Claudio Manera at Araldica Very over-ripe, rotting aroma. Quite hot alcohol but lovely ripe fruit and nicely hidden oak. Good, apart from the heat.
