Winemaker and winery: Marcelo Retamal and Eduardo Jordan, De Martino Winery.
Grape variety: 92.5% Syrah and 7.5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Region: Choapa Valley, Chile.
Viticulture/Vinification: De Martino is the only winery producing wines from this area, with a vineyard in the foothills of the Andes at 825m altitude. Cool maceration for eight days and fermentation for nine days takes place with pumping over. The wine is aged for fourteen months in fine grain, lightly toasted French oak.
A lot of chocolate and coffee scented oak on the nose. Syrupy Ribena, which is lovely except for the lighter fuel. Rein it in M&S.
