Winemaker and winery: Andrew Spinaze, Tyrrell’s Wines.

Grape variety: 100% Semillon.

Region: Hunter Valley.

Viticulture/Vinification: Grapes are sourced from a single vineyard planted on red sands and clay soils, where some vines date back to 1865. Vines are low yielding and are dry farmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel. This wine is unoaked.

Availability: Now – major stores.

Lovely fat, waxy Semillon on the nose and also something like ripe lemons, basking in sunlight. A touch of fizz and absolutely dry, with chewy phenolics. Needs some olives.
