Winemakers and winery: Walter Schug and Michael Cox, Schug Carneros Estate Winery.

Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay.

Region: Carneros, Sonoma County.

Viticulture/Vinification: The proximity of the Pacific Ocean provides cooling breezes for the vines, allowing for a long and even ripening period. The 20 year old, low yielding vines are treated with biodynamic and sustainable agricultural practices. New French oak is used for fermentation of 22% of the blend, while the remaining wine is fermented in 1-3 year old barrels. Malolactic fermentation is limited to 25% of the blend to ensure lively acidity.

major stores.

Sweet, vanilla oak on the nose. Oaky, with warm alcohol. Competently made but just too gaggingly full of flavour and lacking in refreshment.
