Sweaty, onion sauvignon smell. Nice tangy fresh sauvignon taste. Fine when reduced to £3.34

The '08 isnt much better. We had this last night as part of a 'Waitrose meal for two for £10' deal.

Yeah, in store tasting on Saturday. The red one along side was pretty dire at 11:30am or at most other times as well, cant remember the flavour - didn't bother with the white. One likes to be polite in Waitrose

But .....they had some clear out, bin end Huet Vouvray for £10.99, The Sec 2005.

Was the Huet REDUCED to £10.99 or just being ditched. In our branch they have a collection of what looks like bin ends, but is actually just normal priced wine being cleared.

I have a friend who loves the Sunrise Sauv above all other wines and so am always pleased when it's on offer, but it bears little resemblance to Sauvignon, in my opinion.

Your friend is extremely lucky .....Ig****** / unknowing is bliss

Yes, fortunately they dont plaster the tacky reduced thing over the front label. Huet labels look nice and ethnic.

Yep - It's gone up more than I'd remembered ? Current store rack stock was less I recon, even though it's the cheapest Huet. The Demi and Moelleux, just checked are even more dosh now.

Cheers

Sorry to be uninitiated, but if I was given this blind, it would appeal. Don't care what you call it, don't care what criteria. It's inoffensive, tasty and cheap, and regularly on offer. Hic! (haec, hoc if you must...)

Uninitiated ? Na Ba, if you like, no probs. I saw this wine in my Waitrose priced as £5.99 which I recon is a try-on.

BUT, as Mel says - when £4.99 less 25% and you quite like, tis all good.

Huet, Les Monts Sec about 30% off, Chennin not on Topic:

Rushed back in to Waitrose to check out the few Huet remainders - Wiser drinkers had carried off the booty. Damn - I was a bit flippant with myself on Sunday.
