100% Tempranillo innovatively made with some 'doble pasta' that yields intense fruitiness and supple tannins. Grapes come from vineyards in Briones, Ollauri and Gilimeo and are harvested at <6t/ha manually mid-Oct into small bins. Part-fermented in new oak barrels, part in stainless steel at 25-28°C, then matured in new barrels for 7 months. American oak to the extent that it smells of popcorn. Oaky and fresh in the mouth with a reasonable length of vanilla flavour. Alc 14%, TA 5.2g/l, pH 3.6. RS 3.5g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 5 branches. 15/10/2008
