A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from 30-40 year old vines in the Gard and Vaucluse areas of the Rhône appellation. The soil is a mix of clay and limestone and grapes were machine-harvested in mid-Sept. The different grape varieties were vinified separately under controlled temperatures not exceeding 30°C in inox tanks. Maceration lasted for 3 weeks on average. Malolactic fermentation and maturation in concrete tanks. Head winemaker is Véronique Torcolacci of Gabriel Meffre. Young, juicy fruits on the nose. Dark, plummy taste and warmish alcohol. Not complex but reasonably good. Alc 13.5%, TA 3.28g/l, pH 3.65, RS 3g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 192 branches. 15/10/2008
