The Wine has arrived from Laithwaites - we bought for £8.99 - but is worth £10 per web site.
The best CdR Village 2007 tatsed so far by quite a margin. Syrah with Grenache 13% vol.
Lovely, full figured ripeness and concentration without any furryness or excessive gunk in suspension.
Ripe red and dark fruits, some violet and spice, and herby notes, lovely and silky in the mouth. No drying tannins at all, yet firm. Not baked, nor flabby, this is good Cote du Rhone, and I shall be saving three for some bottle age, and we shall see if it can knock over some more illustrious names from the region when ready. I'd say it will go to Spring 2013.
Nice trad bottle, with vintage year 'shield' visible when in your wine rack, tight lead foil, high grade cork.
I was sipping this without food on the 2nd Night, and it was even nicer, with a text book nose for CdR.... Yum.
I know, it's a Tenner. It is good wine
