35% Carignan, 30% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre. The Dom of Caraguilhes covers an area of some 600 unbroken hectares. In 1958, the owner pioneered natural farming and winemaking practices by employing sustainable organic techniques. Soil is clay-limestone, with rocky hillsides. Carbonic maceration (for the Carignan), the other grapes are de-stemmed prior to their fermentation in vat at 25-28°C. Full malolactic, matured for 9 months in vat, and bottled in July 2005 . Bentonite filtration. Suitable for vegetarians. Winemaker Aicha Kacémi.

Hideous stink of rotting fruit. Tastes quite fruity and spicy, but the smell is impossible.

:qofyuk:
Alc 13.5%, TA 3.32g/l, pH 3.70, RS <1g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 105 branches.
