Produced by Spier Wines, from 91% Shiraz, 6% Mourvèdre, 3% Viognier Grapes were hand-harvested from selected vineyard blocks at 26.3° balling. The juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and open oak barrels at 25°C for 7 days. Malolactic fermentation was completed in barrel. The wines matured for a period of 14-16 months in French and American oak. 15%vol Awards: Decanter 2008, Gold Heavy bottle. Lots of heavy oak on this. Coffee and chocolate-scented. Very New World and rich. Sweet, ripe fruit and a lot of oak. Decanter liked it, clearly. 08/10/2008
