Produced by Aldeanueva, Marques del Norte, from 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 10% Graciano Grapes selected from low yielding 30 year old wines. Fermentation was carried out with selected yeast at a temperature of no more than 32oC and to reach optimum extraction, the maceration was carried out for at least 21 days. Malolactic fermentation began naturally after 10-15 days. After fermentation the wine was put in French and American oak barrels and racked 6 times during 20 months. 3 years ageing in barrel and bottle. 12.5%vol Warm, vanilla, appealing nose. Benchmark Rioja taste but with a little alcohol burn initially, which I don’t like. 08/10/2008
