The growing season was perfect during this vintage and the grapes were hand picked as late as possible at a very good quality level with excellent dry extracts and maximum ripeness, which in turn, gave optimum depth of flavour and complexity.
The juice was fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature's for 3-4 weeks. The wine was vinified to complete dryness - no residual sugar. Ageing process: The wine is not oak-aged as the Trimbachs believe that wood adds nothing to their wines, the salient characteristics of which are extremely pure and concentrated. Bottling is early to preserve freshness and the wines then bottle-age before leaving the winery.
This reputed Riesling is being compared to the remarkable 1990 vintage, and is from the premium diverse slopes of Ribeauvillé overlooking the Trimbach winery. The vines have an average age of 30 years ensuring low yields and concentrated fruit. The clay-limestone soil brings out all that is best in Riesling. Cuvée Frédéric Emile is made solely from very ripe grapes, hand picked selectively at the end of the harvest. This multifaceted wine owes its great depth of flavour to the combination of the grape with ideal soil. After a few years in bottle it reveals a fascinating mineral nuance. This long-lived Riesling bears the name of their great ancestor Frédéric Emile Trimbach.
Lovely dry Riesling smell, with a hint of dried fruits. Lovely. Tangy, vibrant, and definitely dry. Rich and fabulous.
