Grape varieties: Chardonnay 85% Viognier 15%
Vegetarian
2.5 grams/litre residual sugar.
13.50%
Chardonnay grapes sourced from Beziers and Viognier grapes from Nimes from specially selected vineyards. Vines 20-25 yrs old. Machine harvested in good climatic conditions.
Pre-fermentation cold soak on the skins for both grape varieties to extract a maximum of aromatic character. Speciality yeasts used to initiate fermentation in inox tanks where temperatures were kept cool throughout. Varietals fermented separately.
Oak/lees treatment: This wine is not oak aged. Wine left for 3 months on lees before bottling.

La Châsse du Pape is a long established leader in the French wine category and, particularly with the success of its Réserve Côtes du Rhône, red wine has always been at the heart of its production. Meffre recognised the recent trend towards unoaked styles of Chardonnay, leading to the addition of this wine to the company's portfolio of white wines, proving that there is more to Gabriel Meffre than just great reds. This wine brings together state of the art winemaking and contemporary styles with the strength of the La Châsse du Pape brand.

Very strongly peachy smell - like bubble bath. Sweet, with warm alcohol and a peachy after taste. Not for me, but likely to be regularly reduced.
