Just the lightest hint of aroma. Sweet, barley sugar taste. Pleasant and simple. But, if you want to serve pudding wine and doubt whether your guests will care much how complex it’s flavours are by the end of the evening, it looks beautiful and expensive.

At last. Mel, I'm so pleased that you will talk about the noble rot and delicious nectar achieved by the lesser appellations on the right bank.

La Rame would be simple for 2005 I suspect, even in years when the grapes will rot beautifully to reveal that extra dimension, La Rame is safe and a tad boring.

We need to search out Cadilac and Loupiac wines that are not sold in such bulk to the big supermarkets and such.....because they make small quantities of beautiful wine that could only be stocked in 30 shops or so for a few months.

Chat Loupiac-Gaudiet 2003 is twice as good, but you won't find it in the shops now. Chat de Ricaud is wonderful too in good years when the Botrytis fungus takes hold in particular conditions.

Well Mel, the English palate is so bloody dull, they don't understand, nor do they deserve anything so beautifully lush and fascinating.
