Made for Tesco by Cave de Tain. All the grapes are hand harvested from the steep granite and sand slopes of this small appellation. 2004 was a regular harvest in the Rhone Valley and the grapes were picked mid-late September.
All the wine is treated to oak aging in French oak for a minimum period 18 months with only one racking to encourage the softening of the tannins and preserve the flavour. The wine will also improve once in bottle and can be kept for at least 5-10 years if stored correctly. Cornas was out of favour for many years and has now been energised by a new breed of winemakers and vignerons and have catapulted Cornas into consideration once more. The wines are serious contenders to Hermitage and have power concentration and complexity and are age worthy.
Hauntingly beautiful oak – very tempting. Lovely taste and great balance between oak and fruit. Dances, lightly, on the tongue. Savoury finish. 13.5%
