Made for Tesco by Ken Forrester Wines. Made with grapes entirely from Stellenbosch, the premium viticultural area in South Africa. Fruit sourced from old vines, unirrigated, low yields (below 8 tons /hectare). 20% of this wine is fermented in new and 2nd fill French oak barrels, which adds complexity and an appealing buttered toast character, which is perfectly balanced by the crunchy apple and ripe pear flavours of the grapes.
A vague whiff of Chenin on the nose. Dry, savoury and moderately long lasting. Nothing to get excited about, but a reasonable quality, fairly neutral wine. 14%.
