Had read some conflicting and disappointing reviews on this wine. So I approached with a slight trepidation. Have i wasted my money?

We appreciate quality, but also value for money.

No disappointment. On tasting, it gave an organic, almost Pinotage type quality, this then developed ino an appealing smokiness. Lovely rich damson colour and wonderful viscocity without being any way cloying.

sense of crushed dewbury, fruit, cassis and crushed blackberry fruit, best presented deep in the palate, bursting blackcurrant. So fears, allayed...LLL...Long,lasting and lingering. Balanced acidity with the viognier (7%)

I had the Zonte's a few years ago in the US, and the first couple of glasses were quite good, then the acidity (lack of balance/heat?), hit me, and I was unable to continue. I wonder whether the Viognier levels are too high.

hi andyc

after about 2 hours, like yourself, i did notice there an increase in acidity level, noticeable certainly, but not destructive. After a while a wine can go either way, or no way, depending on temperature, make up, or maturity.

we know this, but u are right...thankfully it did not spoil the main time of enjoyment or consumption.

maybe the viognier levels, im not qualified to say, but like u, it is present.
