But you've moved on from the terrible drinks, Bacchus. GK, I love gwack, but I can understand that it is a bit slimey.

I just love the whole subject of food, especially weird stuff and foods that do wonderful things to wine.

I'll eat almost anything, especially if chilli and spice are involved.

Around three weeks ago I made a large batch of spiced apple chutney using onions from my plot and apples from a local tree. I opened the first jar last night, oh mama, heavenly, hot! hot!

Here's the recipe if anyones interested-
http://www.cottagesmallholder.com/apple ... recipe-110

I added more chilli.

Recommended on Saturday Kitchen to go with a dish of 3 different shellfish, squid and sea bass. How anyone can actually eat that is beyond me. Makes me squirm just thinking of it. Had to look up Dorset whatsits, tssss keep away. How can you taste anything else if you eat that stuff?

Who was doing the recommending on Sat kitchen. Like the change of pic. Slightly higher up the IQ scale and clearly appropriate for your nom de web.

Have a good one.

Susie Barrie this week. Guest expert chooses wines to go with each of two recipes each week. There is an archive on the Saturday Kitchen site. 2001 Rioja GR and Crios Torrontes ready to go, Furmint to collect en route. Getting hungry already.
What were your lads doing in Bristol?

One of them is busy being a girl. The other going to see Joseph with a girl he has the hots for. They go and stay with their dad every third weekend. I'm painting the dining room (I'm calling it part of the grieving process, but it may be a mid-life thing) then going to the Chelt Fest of Lit poetry slam.

Skid pan this morning was ace. Could have gone on all day, had there not been 2.5 litres of Sanderson's Limelight with plans.

Bacchus, Enjoy your dinner party tonight.

BTW, The re-launch of the Bacchus persona . We are not that convinced about this "all sweetness and light" dainty cherub  Hitherto - You were adopting a Bacchanal approach - Ha ha - Wine Orgy and Revelry, romanesque in it's flavour .

See ya

You need to understand that sweetness and light are my watchwords. I am generous to a fault, never curt or unbecoming with anyone. I don’t swear, drink too much or speed, and I go to church three times a week. I never covet my neighbour’s or anyone else’s ass, and go about my daily business in a gleeful and submissive manner. In fact, I only have one vice…I lie.

Thought I'd have a decent pizza last night.

See, I do like my food

That pizza looks like it has already been eaten and returned for a second go.
