100% Sangiovese Grosso, produced by Piancornello in Montalcino by winemaker Maurizio Castelli. The vineyards are located to the south of Montalcino (Sienna) at an altitude of 250m. The soil is volcanic and markedly stony. The grapes were harvested in Sept 2003, with average yield of 65 quintals/ha. 28 day alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at temp of 28°C. Malolactic fermentation in new French barriques. Aged for 1 year in new French barrique, then 30 months in Slavonian 40hl oak, fined, and matured in bottle for minimum of 12 months. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Fragrant and appealing. Gentle, sweet, almost fragile taste. Evolved and unrecognisable as 2003. Fab.
