Made for Tesco by Boschendal Wines. Partially fermented in 300 litre open top barrels. Three pumpovers during peak fermentation, 1 or 2 during the last part of fermentation. 18-22 months in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. This wine was made on the basis of style and flavour profile, rather than being regional or vineyard specific, to produce a wine that is full-bodied and exhibits ripe fruit, dried herbs, peppery and spicy characters. The Boschendal viticulturalists and winemakers sourced Shiraz primarily from vineyard sites that have high concentrations of Koffieklip (translated as 'coffee stones') which is gravel based soil with high concentrations of iron stone, soil that gives Shiraz the distinctive characters that we were looking for.

Farmyardy with some sulphur and chocolate. Warm chocolate and dark, plummy fruits in the mouth. Almost like a cherry chocolate liqueur. 14.5%
