Hunter Valley
Made for Tesco by Australian Vintage Ltd. Fruit mechanically harvested during the cool of the night was chilled down to around 10 °C into large airbag presses and the resultant juice drained into a large stainless steel tank. Temperature controlled fermentation was used to control the rate of sugar attenuation and on the completion of fermentation the wine was allowed to remain on yeast lees for an extended period. 15% of the blend was fermented in new and one year old French barriques. The Hunter Valley area of New South Wales is well known for its Chardonnay and this wine shows the true varietal character from that region. Fruit was harvested over a range of ripeness levels and the resultant wine has good natural acidity and will benefit from extended maturation.
Green tinges. Green, fresh, new oaky smell with lime pith. Very savoury in the mouth. Moderately oaky, but nicely fresh and clean. Very Hunter Valley. 13.5%
