tesco sell the 2004, not tried yet. made by semi-drying and double fermentation, just a step below the Amarone wines, very easy this bottle at 13% alcohol.
As it opens sweet liquorice on the nose and a fruit/christmas cake density that is not too cloying. Rich, brooding flavour with a roundeness that is satisfying.
I am becoming more aware, particulary in winter months, that tho one can allow wine to breathe for a time. I seem to access that more immediately if I cup the glass in my hand(s) allowing the warmth of my hand to nuzzle the wine into life until it finally strokes me like a happy dog...lol..for about 10 mins say, sipping it a bit at a time.It may sound a bit snobbish, odd or just plain silly, but it works for me.
They even reckon there may be 10-15 years maturation...hey...one wonders...but boy is it good now.
Good wine, will try the 2004 in about two weels, when I next shop at Tesco.
