Winemaker & Winery: Bruno Cordero, Terra do Vino.
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo.
Region: Barolo, Piedmont.
Viticulture/Vinification: Hand harvested late October. The grapes were lightly crushed and softly pressed. Fermentation lasts for 20/25 days at 30°C. The wine is barrel aged for 24 months.
Availability: Now - 79 stores.
13.5% vol.

Heavy bottle. Typical transparent brown colour. Cracking smell. Lovely aged, evolved, slightly decaying fruit. Textbook Barolo tannins – chalky and drying. Softened, baked and beautiful taste. Savoury finish. Yum

Surely I can't be the only one to have noticed this has been reduced considerably in the latest offers. I asked my local store to reserve the last bottle they had and the wine dept guy told me it was a price reduction bordering on lunacy. He reckoned it was a bargain at the full £22. He told me he was expecting a delivery of more overnight but he expects they'd be gone by the end of lunch tomorrow.

Will let you know how i get on.

The last "Barolo" that I bought was many years ago in a tiny village offy en route to a new girl-friends house for the first time. It was SO cheap, that the yokels had obviously mis-priced it, so I bought 3. Whilst opening the first one with great expectancy (in 2 directions) I found that it was Bardolino - twit!!

Was talking sancerre at Majestic on the phone after Lunch, he's pretty busy already 8) Aha, Exactly what I said to Mark, "get yourself some pristine Y fronts, and while you're about it " ............ His store is close by. Based on tribs's intelligence - advised him to get in there pretty damn quick. Was going to walk in to town myself (parking is dire) - but it peeeed-down all afternoon. I'm so damn busy, backlog already.

Ordered a couple of Musar 2003 at the same time, it's not a stock item at MW.

I've forgotten what Bardolino is  I seem to remember, it was big at Parties in the early 70's wasn't it Ba ?

A bit like Valpolicella. Mix of grapes from the NE, mainly Corvina and Rondinella. Can also do the Amarone trick of refestering.

2008 on sale for £12 in M&S now. Haven't tried it and quite hard to find any info on it... Clapham Junction has loads but gone from a couple of others I tried.

2012 Peironte Barolo is currently on offer at M&S. Reduced from £18 to £13 plus multibuy 25% off is available making it just £9.75.
I bought two over the weekend but have yet to try it
Castello Banfi Amicus Toscana 2013 is also available for the same price and Cave des Vins de Sancerre Les Ruettes Sancerre 2014/5 is down from £15 to £10 before 25% off
These seem to be the best double dips I saw in store
