Shezza's note on the Merriman 2008

According to the above thread, I have an '06 a couple of '07's and now an '08 :? . I have just had a brief look and I can't find the '07's. There are some boxes I can't get to though.

I think I've only had the '07 which was very good. Will try the '08 next to see if its worth getting more of that. If anyone tries the '09 let us know.

The Enira 06 to 07 is marginal (would buy the 06 if I had a choice).

The Merriman 07 to 08 is very noticeable indeed, prehaps the 08 needs more cellar time ??

Called at Waitrose today. They were out of;

Enira
Merriman
Wither Hills PN
Cono Sur PN Reserve

I left somewhat disappointed. :(

I was going to take some John X Meriman, but I was seduced when I found just a few Gabby Meffre Vacqueras 2007 for the same money. I suppose I took this cos it will be ready (ready for me) a lot earlier. I rate this '07 higher than Decanter's silver for the '09 - They were late in Finding this wine ! Or, more likely ...there wasn't much of it about.

There are so many offers around that I could be falling all over the stuff, if I let my initial impulse run free.

Indeed, but Im keeping my powder dry for the New Year sales. I have £75 worth of M&S giftcards and £40 worth of Waitrose vouchers coming my way shortly.

Richard (and anyone else holding on to Enira 06),
I have just been tucking in to the last of my Enira 06 and believe this is a drink up now mate
Still deep purple in colour, this is very smooth with little to no tannins. Has a raisin type flavour coming through almost Amarone like in both flavour and alcohol feel
Going by this bottle it will stand never up to 5-7 yrs keeping (but could be due to the previous storage of this bottle).
If you have a couple in storage I'd advise you give one a go to see whether you think they may stand the test of time
Mine for certain wouldn't. Drink up IMO

That`s a shame was hoping these might cellar longer.

Will bring one up from the cellar this weekend as I have 2 showing.

Thanks for the heads up.
