Tesco Finest* Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2009, 9.79, Tesco
Very pale. Rather an animal nose. Dry, with savoury, leathery flavours. No sweet fruit, though. Needs food.

Tesco Finest* Vin de Pays d'Oc Malbec 2010 18.7cl, 2.29, Tesco
Little on the nose. Dry and metallic. Not great.

Tesco Finest* Gigondas 2009, 13.29, Tesco
A hint of farmyard on the nose. Very dry tannins. Needs a bit of time. Liquorice finish.

M. Chapoutier Gigondas 2007, 16.79, Tesco
Sweet fruit and smoky oak. Like wood smoke. Significantly more exciting, juicier and more complex than the Finest.

Tesco Finest* Côtes Catalanes Carignan 2010, 6.99, Tesco
Spicy nose. Spicy taste and pretty sweet.

Chanson Gevrey Chambertin 2007, 30.99, Tesco
Lovely, lovely nose. All warm wood, pinot cherry and spice. Lovely flavour. Leathery and warm but not hot.
