I loved Sam Smith's, but it don't come in bottles. Further, there is only one pub for many miles of here which sells it. I like LP too, but I think Ruddles County just pips it. Like Greene King Abbots as well.

decided to give one of my 08s a go (Bin 17 on the label as Mel's had - as do the 2009 vintage that I saw in WR the other day)

Blackberry and hint blackcurrent fruit, not too sweet or too oaky, at the same time nothing that blows you away.
Better than a lot of the mass produced Oz Shiraz but had been hoping for a bit more from this after a year
Didn't woo me as the 06 had previously.

May have been a little harsh
Been open a few days so starting to get that baked flavour
But generally pretty decent Shiraz for the price
