Palest salmon colour. Slight damp dishcloth smell. Dirty? Not corked but not good at all.

A ha !!

I'm glad that you didn't enjoy it as you've clearly stumbled across a typical fault with Sancerre ( both white and pink ).

I tried to describe the fault to you last year and described the smell and taste as soapy....you've gone for dish cloth.

All that matters is we tasted the same thing.. :)

The point is though is that this wine can be perfect. I've bought 6 bottles in total and 4 were fine and two were as you describe.

Gluck's description on the superplonk site

" Fournier Sancerre Rose 2005 2005 France 75 cl bottle
Very elegant genteel cherries. An expensive rose, but good pinot’s like that. 16/20 "

So it must be a fault...as Sancerre always has a cork maybe it is some kind of cork taint ?

This is the best rose i've ever had but the fact that 1 bottle in 3 is bad puts me off buying it..

Sainsbury's sell a Sancerre rose, but only online. The price is good, (£77.94 for 12) but I only tried one bottle and perhaps the fault is regional. You don't want to be stuck with 12.

We've had two bottles tonight with a Chinese takeaway and both were spot on.

Bone dry, wild strawberry with very slight minerality.

Lovely !
