These were navy blue wool surge trunks - I know cos I had a pair that came off when very wet and heavy, and you dived in off the breakwater, and found them round ya knees. Looks like your mum had modified them with those tie laces at each side, some had rubber elastic that perished in about 3 months in the Summer..... Mind you, not everyone was taught to swim in those days !
Those Ice cream vendors "clinker built" timber beach huts were all over Dorset, that one is a dead ringer for the old one at Lulworth until the very late 80's
