Smells sweet. Floral, grapey, sweet taste. Not at all typical of Aus Riesling.

This used to be my fav Aussie riesling back in the days when it was sold as Finest Great Southern riesling for £5.99 and had 3 years bottle age.

In fact I have only just finished the last of the 2003 vintage.

The ever so eccentric Malcolm Gluck scored it 17/5 out of 20 rising to 20/20 in 2010.

He was very critical of the 2006 though and scored it 14 with no potential to age ( although it did make Jancis Robinson's top 100 white wines of 2006 ).

Gluck might have just been pissed off that Tesco had put the price up as he does have a tendancy to judge the price of a wine and not the actual wine itself.

I'm not entirely convinced that he even tastes half the wines he comments on. I once saw a Gluck tasting note for an excellent Fevre Chablis that simply read..

" £14 !!!!! "

With Thresher selling Leasingham Magnus for £5.33 ( 3 bottle price ) i'm in no rush to judge it for myself
