Yep, finished off the bottle last night and you are exactly right. Was far superior to the first night. Much happier now.. Still not much on the nose but the flavour more than makes up for it. Softer too. Worthy of a £

Enjoyed massively another bottle over the week-end. I'd say the wine was good for another year. This wine is excellent for the offer price. Very satisfying to when one finds a half price offer of this calibre.

Will try and keep back the remaining 2 bottles for a while.

Back in at Mr T for £4.99 a bottle - website says non vintage.

Look at the back of the bottle for the subsidiary label.... 2007 is wot ya wont.

Anybody done this ? Cos I want some more please, and finished the last one last week-end, and it was even better with only 5 months on the rack since I bought the 6 x box  Lush with roast chicken (look out for Oakham free range and organic offers in M&S) they come up on Fridays every now and again.

Must check Big T for this CdR village

I'm ahead of you Dunc. No 07's round here. I may take a chance on an 08.

I've been really busy at work lately. I've been on the road a bit as well. I managed to avoid the M6 closure last night having been in Hereford yesterday. Was on the M5 when I heard and decided to go through Ashbourne and Buxton. I'm extremely glad I did. It added a little over an hour to my journey. I don't know what time it actually opened, but they were hoping for 2300 last I heard!!!

 I should get out more

Dead busy as well - one of my long term clients has become insolvent, lack of trade and bad debts, I've been nursing them for free this last week or so, but now, time to file for....... The downturn is real heavy and very serious for small companies.

Managed to get the last few 2007's at the Stockton on Tees store tonight. Weren't at the back of the shelf, but way up high and was fumbling around on tiptoes trying to get at them worrying that I'd bring the lot down

Glad I went to the trouble as it does seem pretty good for a fiver. Didn't really smell of too much at all, but smooth with plenty of body. As has been said already, the heat that you sometimes get with wines at 14% was very well disguised.

To ease any potential searching amongst dark shelves this vintage had the Tesco security seals on, whereas other vintages did not (although I guess this may be store specific).

Good.
Nice find Aeres, worth the climb. Should be deeper, with a sweet cowshed niff, drifting about on the middle palate tomorrow. That of course, if you haven't swigged all the left-overs.
It does vary, so don't think you've missed something, if you don't step on a cowpat, while crossing the field.

Yes, you're right. Much more to it today and the smell is defintely there and much more distinctive than yesterday.

Leaving wine to a second day is quite an unusual occurance for me - maybe I should try it a little more...

Was also an alien concept to me as well [unless it was the third one].
Tesco seem to have a random policy with those tag things. Often on a £6 bottle and not on the £10 bottle next to it.

Yes, you got my hopes up as there were a couple right at the back in my local that I could not reach that had them on. I nearly destroyed my toes stretching to reach them. Damn 08's they were.

Oopsie - sorry Tribs

Bacchus may well be right - the security seals may just be one big red herring. There was probably somebody watching on CCTV having a right laugh at your expense
