Lovely wine, lovely SB. Not Oaky as is the M&S version by Craggy Range and reviewed by Mel some time ago.

An NZ - Sancerre. Very good wine and worthy of a star at the discounted price £9.59

Some may say that the acidity is a little too subtle, yet I think it is a very balanced wine with some minerality.

I don't agree with Bob Campbell that the wine has cellaring potential - per se' Perhaps just another year. You would not want the wine to loose its freshness. I agree that the wine, like Sancerre, can take some time in the rack. This SB builds in the glass, but is not as robust as BC's tasting note implies. Serious and also very classy sauvignon blanc, very worthy of BC's 90 points, very satisfying.

Lovely stuff, I like this, therefore £ great value at £9.59

I did wonder if they were different wines. Sounds like they probably are as oak was definitely a strong feature of the M&S version. I have a bottle of the '09 Majestic Te muna. Will get around to it shortly.

They are different for sure. I am looking forward to your opinion of the 2009 vintage in Martinborough. The fruit though, is from the same Te Muna vineyards as the oaked version

At this quality level, I believe the growing conditions for '08 in Martinborough may have produced better results than the same vintage across the water in Marlborough at the tip of the south island. Martinborough could have a slightly longer growing seaon in more tricky years.

I shall discover more about of these quality SB's as time goes on.

It was my nephews birthday today, so round to my parents. We had some Buenos Bonarda Malbec. An Asda 3 for £10 regular. You get what you pay for.

Was thinking of taking a Marques Del Norte, but remembered I'd have to have opened it the night before

There are wines for serving at home, and ones for taking over to relatives It's best to take a 'safe' one in these circumstances. They won't understand your serving technique anyway, unless totally intune.

The majority of my stock is still located elsewhere, otherwise I would have taken something else.

I need to get the garage sorted so I can get my stock back. I have 90% of my whites, but have been missing a good red.

I am finishing off the rest of that Calvet Touraine and then off to bed.

I have a day off tomorrow and we are heading to Trentham Estate near Stoke.
