Re-Visited on Wednesday 24th February.

Revisions are most important for Casual Viewers and those with stock on the rack.

Bonpas

I enjoyed the wine again, and it was deeper and more harmonious. However - Significant development already (early bargain Rhone '07) I'd advised drinking in 2 years. I'm reducing that down to One year.

For me it was 'a point at the moment, and will go to the Autumn - unusually easy at lowish temperature.

But - You must drink this at one sitting. 24 hours later - and the body and depth of flavour is retreating fast. It is not flat per se', but the gloss has gone and it has become hollow. The good acidity in the wine is now, 24 hours later, unbalanced with the fruit of the wine. A chrome metalic note has appeared (not earthy corroded iron) and this hardening spoils the finish.

Still great value when bought for a fiver, and a fancy CNDP bottle for guests........Drink-up, one sitting only, Please

Only have the one bottle left now.
Think it'll be opened in the summer for BBQ season (assuming we get any sunshine this year !)

Shez, we were about to investigate Yarra Pinot Noir, cant find your post just now. But had you looked into any, and where have you seen them ?

Was it Majestic ? I have not committed to any yet. But I believe Yarra to be one of the most favourable regions in Oz for Pinot Noir ?

What do you say. To find the flavour we want from a new world style, the vines must be established for at least a few decades, surely. Research !

Anybody else here care to add any words of wisdom. Found anything ?

Dunc,
I do believe if looking at Oz PN, then Victoria (and more specifically Yarra Valley) is the region to go for (I believe the same applies for Chardonnay too)

Yering Station 2005 has fallen off the Maj radar.
Sadly looks like we have Missed that boat unless we're fortunate enough to stumble across some in store

I'm guessing we're likely to see less of the more notable producers with established vines over here on the shelves and if we do expect to pay a premium for them

In the lower end of the price spectrum there are are the following:

Sainsbury's sell De Bortoli Gulf station (for 9.99 I think)
However, I recall reading unimpressive reviews for this.
Need to at least step up to De Bortolio's Yarra Valley PN which is sold at Oddbins but think its something like £17.99 (or 14.39 when bought as part of 12)

With your cote du Beaune Would like to see what you think of Tesco's Finest Yarra PN (~£13.50) which I have enjoyed in the past and has tended to get good reviews from most tastings (Think Jancis has rated it well but Mel doesn't rate it as highly).

have read reasonable things too about Shelmerdine Vineyards Yarra PN which is available in limited quantities at Waitrose wine online
reviews here: Shelmerdine review
Although a number suggest sooner drinking (for a 2007 vintage ?!)
and for 2 pounds more at waitrose you can get th NZ offering Craggy Range Te Muna road which is meant to be good stuff.

Dunc,

Agree with your drinking window.

I actually have none left now !!

Just picked up some Noel Verset Cornas 1999 !! Would you leave for another 5 years and try one then ??

May as well kick off Saturday morning.

I am very sorry to be drinking the last one of these 2007 southern Rhones.

It has evolved beautifully, or this bottle was the best of the case I bought.
The last one's of a ripe village rhone (not laying down wine) are always a very good bye bye - Arn't they

Wonderful last night, black cherry and dark stone fruits such as black plum, and, a touch of extra dark squashy raspberry, and if you've ever picked them, the over ripe dark magenta mulberry falling from the tree.

Lovely wine, one of the best unoaked rhones for the money that I have ever had.

The '07 southern rhone vintage is great, even more so from a decent producer.

No Shez, you are a generous chap, and what is more, if you bought right, your presents cost you £13.47.

Nice presents, and jolly good value for money
