Viticulture/Vinification: Craggy Range’s Martinborough vineyard is located at Te Muna, which means ‘secret place’. This wine is sourced exclusively from several parcels of vines growing on a stony, Limestone influenced soil adjacent to the Huangarua River. Grapes are 100% hand picked, whole bunch pressed; components are 75% indigenous and 25% inoculated fermentations in barrel. Aged in barrel on lees for 14 months.

Beautiful oak on the nose. I just love what oak does to Sauvignon Blanc. Savoury but fresh and light, and fruity. Love it. Wish it were cheaper, but bow to the value of the price. It’s excellent.

There were three of these on the shelf of a large M&S near the office. I couldn't resist picking one up to try. Might be a little while before I get chance. By that time, if I like it, there'll be none left no doubt.

The Kaituna Reserve MSB was in stock also but couldn't stretch the budget

Te Muna £9.59 @ Maj for a while.

I had seen that, but was wondering if it was the same wine. Its certainly a different bottle but has all the same label names and references.

Ole Renwick 2009 is a flinty flirty class act, wet granite & minerally star, and understatedly beautiful as well. I will write a tasting note sometime.


I want some Te Muna, Martinborough SB, and some Te Muna PN - please.

Craggy Range wines appeal to me - but you need to have deeper pockets (but bow to the value of the price)..... well put Mel. So far, no disappointments, finesse and elegance.

No Wimpey Bar red sauce here !

Got around to this. It IS beautiful.

I love the oak. Sweet creamy vanilla. A hint of lemon. Well balanced and elegant.

I tried with PF Sea Bass and it didn't really go. It did with Spag Bol though.

My only problem is the price. £13 is a lot when there are some pretty amazing wines for a lot less. Mel is exactly right, it is worth the money, but I am struggling to imagine circumstances where I would buy it again. We'll see if it appears on offer.

As Ba says, and still on offer -Te Muna Road -Up 80p to £9.59 at Majestic for a multi. I missed the £8.79 price, when I was scoring Craggy R Old Renwich MSB.

I hope you are planning on getting it at this price, or lower.
