Winemaker and winery: Paul Smith, Knappstein Winery.

Grape variety: 100% Riesling.

Region: Ackland Vineyard, Watervale, Clare Valley.

Viticulture/Vinification: The Knappstein winery was founded in 1974. Grapes were hand harvested from vineyards grown on classic Watervale soils of red loam over limestone and gently processed to retain the delicate character.

major stores.

Sweet, rather than petrolly aroma. Bone dry and pithy but without any petrol at all. Rather good, if atypical.

Got mine for £8.49 and it's refined quite a lot of petrol. However, the lemon and lime mentioned on the label seem to have gone awol. It's Riesling right enough but not my kind. Must try an '09 though.
