Chaps,

Seen this wine get a great write up by a wine buff, not sure what he was doing in Lidl though.

Copied notes
Had a go tonight although I did not think thin I would buy a 2012 Cote du Rhone, but I did.
Vielles Vignes Cuvee des Princes
Beautiful nose with notes of sweet flowers and violets. Intense aromas of red and black fruits that give the palate an unforgettable moment of tasting. On the palate, its structure is enhanced by a spicy side. Would be enjoyable universally with many dishes of stronger flavours. Masculine and with good personality. At £5.45 it is a steel I believe. I thought you could serve lots of it after dinner too with cheeses.
I have never heard of it before. I talked to the store manager and gathered that they will be promoting it a bit tomorrow - may be 50p off. Please let me know what you think of it if you do buy it.

Yep they were all 2012, and for a basic Rhone, the 2012 does not appear to have been, (too early to assess and all that stuff) properly discussed by the media profs. Having said that, with these southern Rhone wines, the styles are very varied when you move away from the big players.

Yeah, I bought a couple, when I bought their Vacqueyras that Mel rated. The £5.45 tag was when one bought any four french wines, a £1 off per bottle.

Their old vine CdR was a little sweeter/riper on the palate than the Guigal version. Very nice, sorry I did not post at the time. When I went back, to look out for the ones that Shezza found in his local, there was none of it left, and that was 2nd week of October. The press launch was quite viral for the Lidl bargain french wines, Berkshire lads cleared out the sub tenner wines in a flash, just like that !
There was a flyer in my local rag. "wine buff, not sure what he was doing in Lidl though".

We've missed, if I said the Crozes up the valley from the north is a tad darker and slightly more masculine - It'll make you

Rich, the best of the Tesco fine wine clearance went in 18 hours or so - not even enough time to decide . . . . . .

Will send email when I find another budget bargain, in the run up to Christmas, I believe all have gone. The Supermarkets have to make space for the popular offers or those that are supported and plugged by the huge producers.

**Côtes du Rhône Villages AOP Rochegude - Domaine du Gourget 2013 sec Rouge 2013

This one in Lidl is jolly good QPR, and Mel has singled it out in her article *pics. Did you see this one in your store ? Lighter, yet a lovely flavour.

Since October I've been doing these Rhones, finding the Crozes got me out of trouble. I was beginning to dent my laying down cellar stash.

** All gone in my store.
